Mersey Moot - September 2004

1st Atherton's Impeesa Explorer Scout unit one again went to the Mersey Moot. This is an annual event organised by Merseyside Scouts and Guides. It's held at the Tawd Vale campsite near Ormskirk.

The weekend kicked off on Friday night with 'Laeka' playing in the big top marquee, as well as karaoke. Laeka are a rock band who use 1st Atherton's building as their practice venue. It was their first time at the Moot, but hopefully not the last.

Saturday saw Impeesa ESU get through the first few rounds of the 6 a side football, and into the semi-finals of the volleyball. A big improvement on 2003. We're hoping to bring some silverware away in '05!

Other activities on Saturday were 'Gladiators' games (pole jousting, sumo, etc), trampolines, air rifles, archery, and all sorts of other activities.

In the evening the traditional barn dace was held, always a laugh, then the disco. The evening was finished off by the midnight movie.

Sunday was spent competing in the Super Mooter - a mass competition consisting mainly of getting wet and muddy. The highlight of the weekend.

As always we had a great time.
